Our visual princess – Dagmar Zaal – “We work in a crazy and fun department where we loudly sing along with guilty pleasures on the radio”

It’s time for another mini interview with a ‘Hopper’, this week Dagmar is in the spotlights! She is our creative HOPPER producing the most beautiful images.

Please introduce yourself.
My name is Dagmar Zaal, 23 years old and living in Uithoorn, although I stay at my boyfriend’s apartment in Amsterdam more often. Photographing is one of my favorite things to do and things that make me happy are nice food, a drink with friends, all things that look beautiful and music festivals!

What is your role at HOP and what is a standard working day look like?
I am assistant designer at the art department. Every day looks different so there’s no standard working day for me. A few of the things I do often are photographing products and shooting inspiring images for social media and website, I write product descriptions, monitor the social media and website, get in touch with bloggers and influencers and create web mailings.

What aspects of your work do you like most?
The variety of the activities I perform and cooperating with so many creative individuals make me very happy. I find it very interesting to study the working ways of my colleagues and the way they develop themselves. Also it is great to follow the complete product development process; how a product is created and all processed that come along with that, until it ends on my desk for pictures and eventually on the website, ready for sale!

Which HOPPERS are you working with?
Mostly Roos. We meet and discuss a lot. We work in a crazy and fun department where we loudly sing along with guilty pleasures on the radio. There’s enough humor on the work floor and you can always tell about your weekend stories. But… Of course we can put in hard work as well!

What is your favorite product?
That must be the storage boxes, stylish in every setting! And they’re handy as well as you can put anything in it. And then I have quite a list of other items I like… actually I can’t choose!

What is your motto?
Everybody needs inspiration. Whether it’s work related or a lifestyle!

What is your favorite website?
Pinterest, a famous creative online platform. I can easily spend ours exploring images on Pinterest! But there are plenty of things besides the internet that inspire me. I’m a big fan of books, especially graphical or photographical books. They store memories and as much as we all use digital devices, the tangibility of books is priceless.

How do your colleagues describe you in 3 words?
I’m afraid they find me very sweet… besides they probably think of me as relaxed, spontaneous and sometimes a little bit crazy. Better not get into detail… hahaha!

What does your perfect Sunday look like?
An extensive brunch is a must! And then I like to go downtown to go shopping or just relax on a terrace. Although I can enjoy a lazy Sunday as well... Netflix time!

What object can’t you live without?
Music and my (iPhone) camera! As music and pictures allow you to store and relive valuable moments.

What was your dream job when you were a kid?
Photographer. It seemed amazing to travel the world and put the most beautiful places on picture.

What is the most beautiful place you’ve visited?
There are soooo many places I still want to visit, but for now I’ll have to go with Greece. Especially the beautiful small islands with a sea that looks like a giant swimming pool

Your lunch tip?
Bruschetta with homemade soup. You can always wake me up if you’ve a good bruschetta!
